Bhutanese currency is Ngultrum (Nu). It is fixed at par with the Indian Rupee which is also legal tender. In the current year (2003) approximately 46.48 Ngultrum is exchanged for US Dollar. Dollar, Dollar Traveller cheques and American Express cards along with other major international credit cards are acceptable in many hotels and tourist shop. Ngultrun will be required for shopping and personal expenses outside the capital. |
