Currency
Libyan Dinar (LD) = 1000 dirhams.
Notes are in denominations of LD10, 5 and 1, and 500 and 250 dirhams. Coins are in denominations of 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1 dirhams.
The exchange rate is approximately: 1 EUR = 1,65 LYD (November 2008).

Banking hours are:
Sat-Wed 08.00-12.00 h in winter,

   Credit Cards
Limited acceptance of Diners Club and Visa. Check with your credit or debit card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services which may be available.
American Express is not accepted due to American government sanctions.

Travellers Cheques
Travellers Cheques are not accepted. This might change very soon though.
